Boerum Hill

With its mix of neighborhoody and downtown feel, Boerum Hill offers the best of both worlds for those seeking a home in Brooklyn not entirely removed from city sensibilities. Similar to sister neighborhoods Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill in many ways, Boerum Hill is a favorite destination for both those making their first move out of Manhattan and those within Brooklyn looking to get closer to the action.

Residents comprise a diverse mix of families and professionals looking to put down roots.

Boerum Hill has a relaxed style that is easy for anyone to enjoy, with picturesque, tree-lined streets on one side and the bustle of downtown Brooklyn on the other. It also offers a great array of restaurants and watering holes for going out, and convenient public transportation options for getting into Manhattan or going north within Brooklyn.

The streets are quieter at night with less nightlife than in Manhattan, though there are still bars for going out to socialize and meet friends. The eastern edge near downtown Brooklyn is a bit busier and louder for those seeking quiet and calm. Also, though the streets have trees, there are no parks within or even really nearby.

Boerum Hill is a beautiful neighborhood with tree-lined streets and a calm, relaxed feel. The eastern edge is on the border of downtown Brooklyn and commercial Flatbush avenue and consequently is louder, faster and busier. Both young professionals and families with strollers can be found in abundance.

Though there are trees on the streets, a downside to Boerum Hill is that it is lacking in parks of any kind. Residents must trek to 15-30 minutes to Fort Greene Park or Prospect Park to see greenspace.

Hotel options outside of Manhattan are considerably more limited and Boerum Hill technically has no hotels within its bounds, though EVEN Hotel, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, and a Holiday Inn Express are all a few blocks from the neighborhood’s border.

Boerum Hill is incredibly well-served by public transportation, with the 2, 3, 4, 5, A,C,B, D, N, R and Q trains all running through the neighborhood’s northern and eastern edges, and the F and G trains along the west.

Newer buildings may include private garages for parking, but Boerum Hill also features street parking everywhere, as well as a more limited selection of private garages.

Green cabs for passenger pickup are also readily available just about anywhere.
